Very interesting and absorbing story; I liked it a lot. It was intriguing; I could never figure out where it was going to go next.

I find it interesting that Ms. Taylor chose to echo the story of Joseph and the Pharaoh from the Old Testament, but I also thought it odd that she didn't follow that line more closely in the plot. Well enough; more intrigue, or perhaps a deliberate misdirection, kept mostly in the background.

I like the human touch present in this story, and how Amon acquires an elemental wisdom about the meaning of life in the end.

Subtle, simple, and easy to read. I found only one technical error, the use of 'breathe' for 'breath' at the end.

Beautiful job. Thank you, McCamy.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?
