Age of Reception by Zac Miller

Ah, the days of youth . . . high school graduation, teenage parties . . .

This is a marvelous piece of work. Not very heavy on plot, but there wouldn't be much room for one anyway, what with the rich descriptions of setting details -- and even more, the deeply insightful descriptions of the characters here and their interactions. It's surprising to see this quantity and quality of characterization in a short story. Not much happens in the story, which is what makes possible such richness. The lack of action doesn't matter, though; I was drawn in, wondering how it would turn out, and the ending was very satisfying.

Very focused, with its extremely limited third-person POV.

Top-notch stuff! Thanks very much, Mr. Miller, and I'd like to see more!
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?
