Become Like a God by McCamy Taylor

Post by Lester Curtis »

I'm trying to figure out how to describe this story, and the first thing that comes to mind is a quote I heard somewhere: "An adventure is what happens when you fail to plan (or maybe, 'when your plans fail' -- not sure)." Something like that.

The plot is there; it's just completely unpredictable, as is the sequence of events that follow the failure of the main character's original intent. Along the way, he learns that he'd been believing a lot of very large lies. He also finds out a lot about himself that he didn't really want to know. And, he learns to accept the changes.

This story has terrific depth to it, which more than makes up for a minor quibble: how a trained combat veteran fails -- three times -- to hit a target who can't be much more than an arm's-length away. Oh well.

The scenery was very nicely done, too.

Excellent work all around.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?
