Not bad, but I got pulled out of the story by:
Optic cables run through his skin-covering to dozens of small suction cups that cling to his muscles and continuously hum with a low current of electricity.
Sorry -- optical cables don't carry electricity.

Poor guy's got himself in an awful fix, though.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?

Silly boy -- the suction cups contain high-efficiency photocells (not solar cells, since they are in places where the sun don't shine) that CONVERT light into electricity. (If you parse the quoted sentence, it's the suction cups, not the cables, that hum...) Would you believe ... they're optical audio cables and the suction cups are speakers? That's the second weirdest explanation I've ever heard.
You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.
