Perfect City by Vanessa Kittle

I don't much care for stories about people spending so much of their lives in VR; it's kind of depressing.

This one wasn't bad, though; it ends up looking like the MC will wise up to the difference and decide that the "dull world" actually is better.

I found the MC's character to be a little incongruous for his age at times, especially at breakfast, when he throws a tantrum.

I liked the setting work; a few little hints here and there that sort of self-assemble in the reader's mind, like:
"We have to go to the park now. You know it's our day."

"I don't want to go. I'm not going."

"If we all don't go they charge us. You gonna pay the fee?"
That's hardly any information, but it's all exactly the right information. Very efficient; very well thought out. Dialog is very believable, as well.

Pretty good, overall.

I've taken a look at Ms. Kittle's ebook on Amazon, and it's a bit wordy, but quite compelling. Nothing like this story, it's filled with description. So, apparently, this author can adjust her style to the length of the work quite well.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?
