Santa Muerte by Jean Jones

I seldom comment on the poetry, but I had to laugh at the last line in this one. Check it out.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?

I have to agree with Lester. I never read poetry much, but the last line in this one is well worth reading!

Rick, it seems like what you're doing is trying to throw a circus-tent-sized wet blanket over this, but to me, the very contrast you've pointed out is what makes it so funny. Ironically, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what the writer intended, too—the contrast—or, rather, the conflict.

One of the very few things I know about Catholicism is that they've got a whole bunch of saints, and that none of them would be comfortable sharing space with Muerte. That's what makes it funny.

Well, Rick, the only way we'll know for sure is if the writer chimes in here to straighten either or both of us out. 'Till then, I'm back to the nitrous tank.

I think this is a take on the old theme, "Good and Evil." This is a stimulating poem that did causes the old thoughts to fire up!

Rick,

That's a good take on this poem, and I can buy into that idea. I never read poetry much but I should. I did memorize the Rave once in high school, but when reciting it I forget some parts. I think the teacher gave me a B. Nevermore will I attempt such a thing!
