For me this was nearly a perfect short. it had several of the themes i enjoy, like dystopia and NWO-desperation, even a touch of Twilight Zone-esque irony with the forty year rehab. I take it the forty years were in the convicts' heads, right?  not real time.

the scene with the blonde parole officer was especially well done and mammarable, i mean memorable. good one. and Jameson's feelings towards his mom and sarge rang true to me.

Daniel also kept to two cherished hallmarks i hold dear: not giving it all away by spoling the broth with too much background info/descriptive content, and the F word. gotta have that F word somewhere in there.

if anything, this was one of the few occassions where i wished the author would make it longer.

Well, the nasty parole officer made 'it' longer... er, never mind. :P

OK, I've read it twice, and it still does not make sense to me. Was the parole officer's behaviour meant to have some purpose, or was she just a bitch?
Think of her as a cross between the most self-important bureaucrat you ever met or imagined and the supreme cocktease cheerleader of the universe. She is in a position of authority, and can do outrageous things to those under her power, knowing that if they respond in any way (or report her), she can probably send them back for another x years of virtual imprisonment.

We haven't started Season 3 here in Canuckia, bein' backward igloo dwellers, so's I can't comment on the latest episodes.  All I remember seeing in S1 and S2 is some nice partial backal nudity.  :-/

What is this "topic" of which you speak? :-? ::)
It's the opposite of bottomic. Which, as far as I know, Number 6 isn't.
