If you have FTP access to the Aphelion server, each editorial exists as "editorial.html" in a folder named for the issue number and volume (e.g., ap169v16). I could tell you the userid and password I have been using (so if we screw anything up, we'll just say "it must have been Dan!")...

Tao, was this yours? You clicked the "Edit" button instead of "Quote". No matter.
Yikes! I didn't think it was even possible to edit other people's posts!

I quote stuff, copy it, then edit my own posts a lot, so I'll have to really pay attention it's actually my post I'm editing! (And they're 'reeeally' close together!)
Aw, c'mon -- ! They're not THAT close! (Although, I've done it myself once.)

Wow, those are close. It's either the browser (mine's FireFox) or the skin.

I believe that's the Board Style from your user control panel here on Aphelion.

By the look of it, Tao uses the "CA Orbital"' style. Lester, like me, seems to use the "subsilver" style. It's all in how you like to look at the posts.

Tao, you rock! I managed to find one of my early flash stories that I didn't have a home copy of, and had pretty much forgotten I'd written. Thanks for the good work!

Tao,

I remember you posting some stats in this somewhere... Do you have an estimate from your archival work of how many stories, poems, features, and Flash pieces that have appeared in Aphelion or in the Forum? I think it would be good to know that number for promoting the site.

I figure it must be at least 2,000. Right? More?

If you have a url, I really see no reason why I (or you) couldn't add it to the archives page. It may not be complete, but I bet it's actually got more info in it than the real archives so far.

Holy crap... assuming that 7a is pretty much up to date, I haven't published a non-Flash Challenge story since August 2009 (and I'm not sure how long it has been since I entered a Flash Challenge, for that matter). No wonder my keyboard looks so dusty...

The very first "Nightwatch" story, "Dragon's Egg", is missing from my index list.

http://www.aphelion-webzine.com/serials ... Dragon.htm

Another "Nightwatch" piece, under the pseudonym "John R. Murray" could also be included (especially since "Mr. Murray" isn't in the Author list)...

Re: Version 7a June 20 2013

This is the first version with the new program. For you technical types out there, it's Version 7a. There will be a couple more 7.x versions to come fairly soon.

Thanks to a suggestion by Richard Tornello, I made a "Stable" link.

That "stable" link is now on the archives page. I figure it's better than what we had, so why not use it.

Re: Back Issues Listing

TaoPhoenix wrote:Nate, in your new role of Short Story Maven, a wee part of that includes reposting the "back issues". In case you were busy and missed some of my posts, I can't easily get issue data once an issue leaves "go live" here on the site. My fault for not getting May - if I had my Eureka moment one week earlier I could have done it, but I missed it! (He says, intending to get June in there!)

But there's also a bit of a gap from the first half of this year now.

I don't need it right away - besides other "life stuff", I have plenty to do for a couple of versions. But maybe some time about July would be nice to put the First Half to bed! Feel free to post notes here in this thread as you like.
From what I've seen of this job so far, the Shorts Editor formats and posts all shorts, all serials, the editorial, and the features page (I don't know about the actual features themselves... we haven't had any new ones since I started doing it). To me, back issues pages sounds like something an Archives Editor should handle. Am I crazy on that?

Every issue has all the pages saved, even after the flip. Do you need me to send you a link?

I will get to it eventually, but honestly, it's very low on my agenda. Nothing personal, but this is a busy job already.

Every issue has a folder with the shorts, serials, features, etc. indexes in it for that issue. Rob copies those files into a different spot to make the issue live after he's made a cover. The next month, there's a new issue folder with new copies of the index pages for the new month. I will send you a link and the "key" to getting the files. I haven't made a back issues page yet, but I'm assuming I would copy an old one or a template, then copy into it the links from the individual index pages for the month.

Will there also be a similar post called "Domain Has Fallen", with a different action star and stuff blowing up that stayed intact in this one? (Hollywood, land of originality ("Armageddon" / "Deep Impact" being the best example until "Olympus Has Fallen" / "White House Down").)

They can always turn something off faster than they can turn it back on... Let's just hope the pendejos didn't purge all the files (or you had backups).

The index doesn't seem to be working. Is it long dead, and I just didn't notice?

Last time I tried to use Tao's author index, I got sent to a page saying the domain name was up for sale. Hope he kept a backup.
