Immortality Bites by Ray Prew

Post by Lester Curtis »

"Who wants to live forever?" Not me.

I thought it was delightfully ingenious the way the character came up with a way of funding himself with the adoption trick. That was about the only light thing I found here, though.

"Been there, done that, and invented the t-shirt" . . . well, he might have . . .

I liked it, especially for the questions he had about his immortality and why it seemed to be unique to him.

The only thing about this piece that bothered me was a sense of incompleteness, like it's all middle, with no beginning or ending, but maybe that was part of the point of it.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?

Barkeep, give bottomdweller a double of something nice and smooth off the top shelf, and put it on Bill's tab . . .

. . . after that last remark, he owes her a foul shot . . .
