But how seriously are we supposed to take these sentences: “My dieing thought Will be of you…” or “The guilt I can not live with I would rather die”.
“…better to die…Than to live With a broken heart…” A bit of overkill, don’t you think?
Yes, it's an ongoing theme. I survived a bout with this disease myself, once writing to my then-love-interest that if she wouldn't have me, I'd have no choice but to join the Hell's Angels.

I kid you not. (Those of you who've met me in person may now feel free to laugh until the tears run down your legs.)

I'm certainly grateful to have grown out of that. Maybe this is meant to be a reminder of just how awful adolescence really is. Show it to all the pre-adolescents as a warning: "This is what you are about to become!"
