Cross Bound by Julie Travis

Strange thing, this (to me, anyway) . . . ancient magic and supernatural revenge, in a modern-day setting.

Ms. Travis has done a very, very good job, particularly in making the characters believable in all their manners and motivations. But, being so honest in broadly portraying the human condition does not always make for uplifting reading, as this story proves: there's plenty of meanness and stupidity to go around. That, to me, is what gave this story its credibility.

The only fault I could find is the occasional dropped space between words, but since it most often occurred in conjunction with the use of italics, I suspect it may be some formatting glitch.

Good work -- seriously. Read it!
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?
