Creepy stuff! A few missed letters and punctuation marks, but this story has power in the way it carries the reader along. Kind of a psychological mystery-thriller, maybe.

Very good job, and I'd be happy to see more from this author.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?

I was struck by the effectively creepy transitions within the protagonist's dreams / transitions between consciousness and sleep. He finds himself noticing one out of place detail in a particular environment, and the rest of the scene morphs into a new setting in a few quick strokes. The moment of transition, when the hospital floor becomes grass and mud or the pavement in an alley, really evokes that sense of dislocation that the dreamer must feel...
