Mother and Child by Robert Watts Lamon

Post by Lester Curtis »

This is a well-written story, but it failed to move me a whole lot, and I had trouble with Dan's more or less instant acceptance of finding strangers inside his house.

The best part of it was the setting detail, as revealed in both narrative and dialog. Very nice. Still, the writing style, though easy to read, seemed a little monotonous.

The ending wasn't really surprising. I couldn't say I saw it coming, but the lack of anything otherwise amiss in the main body of the story tends to limit the possible number of outcomes.

I didn't spot a single technical error.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?
