Loved it! Yes, I really loved it. I love kids in weird situations and this story---set in the future when the oceans flooded coastal cities---filled the formula that I love.
I can just imagine myself in that predicament. And defending my turf against invaders. Yes, I could almost feel myself there pitching wood and fire-extinguishers at the villains, thinking up new strategies on my feet, and executing those strategies as I move and hide.
The writing good, and the story action packed which captures one’s interest and keeps it!
There was an honest and simple theme about this story with an innocent and poignant ending when what’s-her-name said: “I’m Kathy.”
Very nice job!!!

I'll give this one a thumbs up. No War and Peace by any stretch, but it didn't try to be. Simple in focus, and delivery.
I'd have stuck with 'Beanie & the Floaters' as the title, though. Honestly, that part of the title is what lured me to read it.
